To listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be?
For me it's Okkervil River. Each of their albums has its own unique sound, so sometimes it's almost like I'm listening to a different indie subgenre. Okkervil River is like indie-folk-rock and just absolutely perfect for me. They've been my favourite band since 2008 and I could listen to them 100% of the time and never get sick of them.

I think it would be Wovenhand for me. I love the lead singer's voice, and his brand of alternative folk with a punk/native American twist is quite something. I could listen to this stuff forever and not get bored.

I'm definitely going to have to give them a listen. I love folk music and I also loved Native American music. Are they your favourite band?

Uggh I really just don't know! I listen to way too much music to have to choose just one singer This is going to sound so Teeny-cliché of me and everything but I think off the top of my head I'd actually have to go with Miley Cyrus. I like literally grew up on her, from her first episode of Hannah Montana to recently. Soft spot for her I guess I dunno. *Hides under a rock*

David Eugene Edwards is a bit of strange - if somewhat interesting - chap though. He's the driving force behind the band. As far as I understand it, he was brought up by his two very different grandfathers at different points in his life. One was a travelling preacher of the hell and brimstone variety, and the other was an elder in the Native American community, and you can very much tell that both have influenced his lyrical themes greatly. It's like he's got each foot planted in two vastly different worlds. And this probably also accounts for why his music defies easy categorisation.

Can I pick a person? I'd love to pick Hans Zimmer or something. He's done more film scores than anyone else, or it seems that way sometimes. You'd have such a big amount of music to listen to. Or does it have to be a band? Id it has to be a band I'll pick Sigur Ros.

that's a difficult question. I listen to too many different genres of music that to pick 1 is almost impossible for me. I guess if I had to choose it would be Battlelore. I love the female vocalists voice and obviously being a LotR fan I love they're lyrical content. but that's only if I had to choose one because I always switch what I'm listening to depending on how the day is going.

Will Sheff of Okkervil River is especially strange, but he wasn't anything as cool as a travelling preacher. Can I pick a person? I'd love to pick Hans Zimmer or something. Okay, I've been listening to a few of their tracks on YouTube, and I must say I really dig them. How on earth did you hear of these guys? I loved the song and asked him if he wrote it. He laughed, said "no" and gave me the name of the band that will forever be my favourite

Sigur Ros are an Icelandic band. They do lots of sort of atmospheric type music, but... I dunno, it's actually hard to put it into a genre. Wikipedia says they are "post-rock", whatever that means.
Here is a song by them.
(I just found out Sigur Ros made a song for Game of Thrones, never knew that)

It's the one that has the most Native American vibe to it. Below are two of the most distinctive tracks off that album. Cool story by the way. I love discovering new bands and singers. The process of stumbling across them is often just as interesting as the music itself! I'm going to be tracking down some of Okkervil River's CDs now. I'm hooked!

Kyuss for sure. They combine the right amounts of rock, punk, metal, psychedelic music, blues, and grunge all in one band. There is an obscene amount of talent in that band as well. Everyone except the singer is an amazing musician and the singer is still pretty good IMO.

I can't pick just one! For someone that listens to just about everything... picking only one style of music would be torture.

(I just found out Sigur Ros made a song for Game of Thrones, never knew that) I knew I recognized the name, they had a song in a show I watched and I tracked it down and listened to it for a good 2 weeks straight. Absolutely love it. Not often I take to this particular brand of music but there are a few on my list that I love, this being one of them:
