Ooooh history! Niiiice! My husband has relatives that teach university level history. That's my dream. I would love to study and teach English history at the university level...But I will likely start with high school or middle school.

Tenure is hard to get, but great if you can get it! Are you planning to get your undergrad and then go to teacher's college? Maybe the requirements for teaching are different in the US though, I dunno...?

Maybe the requirements for teaching are different in the US though, I dunno...? In the US you get certified. You go to college and study your major (mine being history) as well as education and teaching. It varies from university to university, but the way it works at mine you study your major for a year or two, then you apply to the teacher education program. If you have higher enough grades in your major plus good references and whatnot (it's a whole application process) you get accepted...you also have to take some standardized testing and stuff. Then after you finish college you get certified and stuff. My college is one of the better colleges for teacher's ed in the north east...which is exciting.

I was told to introduce myself here! So I will...I read all of the other one's that were posted and fair warning; I am far less interesting. I'm Ladybutte (Y'all have taken to calling me Lady which I absolutely love by the way), but in the real world my name is Cheyenne, and I am American and proud of it too...even though things gets a bit crazy over here sometimes. I am 19 years old...and I will be turning 20 in January. Judging from the rest of the posts, that makes me a baby. I come from a very military family...My ancestors have all been in some branch of the military (mainly the United States Air Force)...and I disappointed them all when I decided to not join up and go to College instead. I am currently studying History at Montclair State University...with hopes to teach in the future. I have a little white dog named Maggie and a big white cat named Smokey Joe...but these are actually my mother's pets since I still live at home...because I am a poor college student. We also have an African Grey named Mr. Jones...but he is not very nice. I aspire to have a hedgehog...but I will likely wait until I graduate to get one. And I will name his Casper and that is my plan. Aside from my passion for history I also absolutely love art and making art. I have many pieces that maybe I will share with y'all one day (I am not great...but I so love it). I also love cooking and museums of any sort. I am also in a relationship and I have been happily for three years... I am not too sure religion wise....but I do believe in god and I hope no one take offense to that hah. I'm am very loud and aggressive believe it or not and you all will likely see that side soon if I become comfortable enough....(but I have been told that it is funny rather than mean...which I sincerely hope is true). I have an affinity for butts (hence the username) and I have a bit of a potty mouth which I do my best to keep a lid on. I like roleplaying (although I have not in a while)...I really want to get into D&D but I have not the time......I love reading about history and mysteries...and I like comic books...anime (sometimes)...cosplaying, I like supernatural, arrow, doctor who (to an extent)...and many more fandoms....and I LOVE video games wheee I cannot think of anything else at the moment....but yes! That is me kind of. You belong here lol. Also, if you're into roleplaying, you should head over to the RPG section and join the RPG we're trying to get started. I still have yet to post my characters (damn you lack-of-inspiration). Should be fun once we finally get it going. And you can't offend anyone simply by believing in god, and if they are offended by that, they're silly. I believe in hundreds of gods so I'd be like, the most offensive person ever Lastly, I'm glad to have another potty mouth aboard

What periods of English history are you interested in? All of it.. .But I suppose if I had to choose...hmhmhm Well it is not really a time period...But I love studying the monarchs and how power changed and how some reigns were really successful and some were not and why that was. English government is always really fascinating. There is a class at my college that I am so excited to take which is just a class on English history...I forgot the time periods it covers though.

We're trying to get an rpg started in the proper section if you'd like to join. It won't be quite like a D&D game but it'll give you an idea of what it's kind've like. Also, what kind of comics?

Yes I saw that! I will look into it more when I have time. And I just started reading comics again a few months ago and because of money problems it has been a slow starts hahaha. But so far I have been following the new Black Widow comics and I have read some Dare Devil and Captain America and The Flash and I have some Green Arrow comics lined up to be read...and some other stuff. I am really bad at following the full super hero story lines because they get very confusing hahhaa. I used to read manga a lot...but not so much anymore...Once again; money.

DC and Marvel both did series revamps recently that give pretty clear jumping on points, I think Marvel's doing another round of those right now actually. And yeah, getting into the full back stories can be tricky since a lot of these characters are pretty ancient, if you really want to know something I'd recommend wikipedia for a crash course in a given character, or anything in DC's new 52 or Marvel's NOW! lines, if you can find the start of a given storyline you can usually be brought up to speed pretty quick.

Yeah, That is what I did for the Flash. Because I always loved him but he has a very lengthy series from what I have seen...Black Widow was pretty easy to just jump in on though.
