I didn't see those films, but I saw the American version of Rec, I'm not sure if it was called the same thing or not, but I don't think it was. It wasn't very good because Jennifer Carpenter overacts a lot.
Amityville Horror scared the bejesus out of me though. Even to this day when if I am awake during 3 AM, for that entire hour I'm watching my back lol.

Oh yeah, it's called Quarantine. I could hardly even watch through the trailer for that. The Spanish ones were amazing, and the American one well... it made me cringe in the trailer haha. It looked awful. I don't know why America remakes everything. The Spanish films were perfect as they were.
I refuse to watch any film that has anything to do with Amityville Horror. I will never sleep again if I do, I know it.

I don't know why we do that either. Americans have an issue with watching foreign films/needing subtitles. Short attention span or something.
Did you see Le Orfinato? It's a Spanish film, and it's so amazing. It's scary and paranormal, but it actually made me cry. None of my friends could understand why I was crying, but it was just so beautiful. Same as Pan's Labyrinth. I love that film.
Don't pass up on Amityville Horror, seriously, it's worth a few sleepless nights. I saw it when I was maybe 15-16, it was so good though. Ryan Reynolds is man.

I haven't seen Le Orfinato, but I have seen Pan's. I LOVE that film! I'll put the other one on my list.
I guess I can understand why some people don't like subtitles, but I find that once I get used to it I hardly even notice them, and it's just like watching any other film.
Which one though? Aren't there about 15 films based on Amityville Horror?
Also I think you underestimate how bad I am with films about haunted houses. I had trouble sleeping for 3 weeks after I went to the cinema and the trailer for The Conjuring played. Only the trailer!!

It's just called Amityville Horror and it stars Ryan Reynolds. I think it came out in the early 2000's.
OMG you are just as bad as I am! I had nightmares for MONTHS after seeing a TRAILER for that Emily Rose film (we were going to see The Omen, which wasn't really that scary at all). I actually had to leave the theatre during the preview, I almost had a panic attack because of it!

It was just so sad when the underlying events gradually came to light, don't you think? It's one film that shows you that horror can actually have something important to say sometimes. Absolutely commendable, and I would recommend it to anybody.

I completely agree, and that's why I cried. It was amazing.

It's one of the few horror films I watched on my own too, and I was surprisingly not that scared by it. I did watch it in the day though, no way I'm watching a horror film at night.

I used to have a really big phobia of being possessed. I was a Catholic, and took everything really seriously. I also had nightmares about being possessed and any time I had sleep paralysis (I used to get it all. the. time.), it usually involved either being possessed or demons ripping me apart. Knowing that the film was based on true events (and having read the true story after seeing the preview) I didn't watch it for maybe 4-5 years after it came out. That being said, I watched the film at night, alone, in my ex-boyfriend's dorm room while he was at study group. It wasn't THAT scary, but had I watched it when it first came out, I probably would have had a World War Z caliber reaction to it lol.

Either the Korean film Secret Sunshine by Lee Chang-Dong, or Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris. I should probably get around to watching the American one at some point.

I read that The Conjuring is also based on true events, and is apparently pretty accurate which is just a big bowl of NOPE for me. I refuse to watch it.

I watched Haunting in Connecticut, which is based on a true story, and it wasn't scary at all, which was disappointing.

Never heard of it. I recently started watching a web series about Slenderman on youtube. And even that scared the crap out of me.

I like the slenderman stuff because it's 100% fake, so I can allow myself to read about it/watch stuff about it without getting too spooked.
