I usually try and do both, I prefer book first but I don't mind movie first either. I read the whole Hunger Games trilogy about a year before the first film was released.

I did it the other way around. I watched the film, then like legit raged at all the adverts because Liam Hemsworth was always getting a mention over Josh Hutcherson and I was always like "WHY HES NOT EVEN A BIG CHARACTER YOU NEVER SEE HIM UGH" Then I read the books and was like "oh." Last film I watched at home was X-Men Origins: Wolverine It was on Film 4 last night ^^

Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac Part 1. For all the brouhaha about it being a shocking and controversial film, I actually found it quite moving and thought provoking. Or maybe I'm just sicko and there's no hope left for me...

Rosemary's Baby is an awesome film. I should watch that again actually. Interesting thing is; part of what I loved about the movie, is part of what my dad hated. I loved that at the end they are only describing the baby; you get to imagine it. My dad hated that; he wanted to see the baby. The hole movie is about the baby show me the damn baby. But I know what I can imagine is so much better then any effects they could have done; I like that they did it that way.

One of my best friends keeps telling me to get this movie for us to watch. He just goes crazy for movies that have boobs. You can't imagine what I keep hearing when we're watching Game of Thrones.Take a scene that is about emotions, drama, story, good acting and lines...and all you hear in the back is "Boobs boobs boobs show us boobs!" or "Eeer...ok now suck him" or "It's been 2 episodes and no *makes sex fapping noises with hands* this episode sucks".....

You don't get to see what the baby looks like, and this alone makes the film much more effective than it might have been had it been shown.

Good grief. Yeah, I'd watch that kind of stuff without your friend around in future... and your friends redeming quality would be? Oh, I dunno. I'm sure he has some. Perhaps he makes a mean casserole?

and your friends redeming quality would be? He's there when I need him.And I've known him for many many years. But yeah it's a bit annoying watching Game of Thrones having Khaleesi talk in a scene and hearing the other guy behind you going like "Show us titties!"

I watched Wolf of Wall Street yesterday. Damn. Just damn. Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac Part 1. For all the brouhaha about it being a shocking and controversial film, I actually found it quite moving and thought provoking. Or maybe I'm just sicko and there's no hope left for me... The only Lars von Trier film I've ever seen was Antichrist. Not my kind of film. Have you seen it? Is Nymphomaniac similar?

The only Lars von Trier film I've ever seen was Antichrist. Not my kind of film. Have you seen it? Is Nymphomaniac similar? I've no idea to be honest with you. The only other Lars von Trier film I've seen is Melancholia. I didn't like it at first (especially that ending!) but I found myself thinking about it for days before finally realising that I had to watch it again. That's when I knew that I in fact DID like it. It's hard to explain. Having said that, based on what I've read about Antichrist, I'm not entirely sure that I'd find any value in watching it. The problem with von Trier is that while he does have thought provoking things to say, he also has a tendency to push boundaries just because he can. You've kinda got to take that on board whenever you venture into one of his stories, and as such Antichrist sounds like a story I'd rather avoid.

I watched a fantasy B-movie (the name currently escapes me) on Netflix the other night which exceeded my expectations. I must say it wasn't great but it was definitely worth watching. Even though the makeup and special effects weren't top notch, they were pretty decent and the story was good.
