I don't think they'd care, that's for sure. They'd still act like it's their God given right to stick gum anywhere they choose. Someone should stick gum in their ears, smack the sides of their heads with both hands, and watch it shoot out of their noses! Only it won't shoot out completely. It'll be like two long ropes of gum and snot just trailing from their nostrils onto their clothes and feet. See how they like it then!

Hahaha, this I agree with!I want to cover every inch of gum chewers clothes with pre-chewed gum. And make them walk around outside all day wearing it.

Someone should make that happen. It's for their own good!

It should also be stuck in their hair. I hear that's fun to get out.

Snipping it off would be about the only thing you could do really.

I heard peanut butter works. but I don't know why you would want to put peanut butter in your hair.

You could also put bread either side and just make a full on sandwich.

now wait, i chew gum if i'm in an area i cannot smoke in. yes i use E-Cigs which you can smoke indoors, but i chose to smoke, the guy next to me didn't, so if i'm going to be in a government building for any length of time i'll take gum with me. At no time do i put gum under tables, nor on seats, which i also find disgusting. I don't see how just chewing the gum makes me "gross"

It's the sound Jim. It's different for everyone, but I've always had issues with sound sensitivity. For example, you could be chewing gum next to someone and they wouldn't notice or care at all. But I have a strong reaction to certain sounds, and the sounds that mouths make while chewing gum repulse and anger me to an almost irrational state. If I'm on a bus or something with no headphones, and sitting near someone chewing gum I will actually be on the verge of tears, that's how bad it is for me. So yeah chewing gum doesn't really make you gross, but it does to me personally. And this is the ranting section so I'm telling it like it is haha. To me personally, gum chewers - disgusting.

So, is it that the sound hurts your ears in some way, or the psychological effect that the sound has? Or a mixture of both?

It's all in my mind. There's nothing physically wrong with my ears, it's just what's happening in my brain when I hear these things that is the problem. Here's some more information on it if you're interested. This wikipedia pages actually lists chewing as one of the most common triggers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia
