So,I'm sure everyone has noticed there's some trouble in Ukraine the last few months.
What's your opinion about the whole situation?
Personally,I think it's a bit funny how U.S. politicians warn Putin about annexing Crimea and supporting the pro-Russian seperatists, when it was U.S. foreign policy and Western European leaders who delivered Kosovo to the Albanians,Libya to the mob, supported Chechen seperatism and Bosnian Muslims in leaving Yugoslavia.

Although the conflict has been on the news for quite a while I don't know much about Crimea and its conflicts, but I've heard about the frequent comparison between it and the Kosovo crisis. I've found this comparison recently and I think it might help clear up this problem a bit. And if I understand it correctly the situation in Crimea is slightly different. But I see what you mean - the US's warnings seem a bit hypocritical. However, I don't think I understand the situation clearly enough to be able to judge any of the parties involved. :/

Well, thing is that Kosovo used to be a purely Serbian place since the middle-ages.They had the Patriach's seat there, they had a lot of medieval churches and monasteries there. They considered it the craddle of their civilization. But during the Ottoman rule and especially during the 19th century, the Turks started moving Serbs from the region and settled Albanians. That kind of stopped after Serbia got independent again. But during Tito's communist rule, the Albanians kept coming in big numbers and Kosovo was given autonomous region status. So in the early 90s when Yugoslavia was dissolving, the Albanians had started preparing slowly and openly rebelled in...I think 1997 and onwards.Eh...Clinton had his Lewinsky affair and somehow the Americans and Western European leaders went to war against Serbia to "protect" them from Serbian "aggression".Albanians later unilaterally declared Kosovo independent,USA supported that...and that's what happened.
However,Crimea had always been a Russian region that was given to the Ukrainian SSR during Kruschev's rule. After the dissolution of the USSR,Crimea became an autonomous region.
Basically Eastern Ukraine,Crimea and Odessa(Southwestern Ukraine)have a majority of Russian-Speaking population.These are either Russians or pro-Russian people.
Another interesting fact is that the Western Ukraine parties that caused all this destruction in the first place are far right nationalists. The Svoboda and Pravii Sektor.Especially Pravii Sektor have the flag of the WWII Ukrainian nazi-collaborationists as their banner.

I think everyone (ahem US cough) and western Europe should open their god damned eyes and see that this wouldn't have started if Kiev would have let Crimea enter Russia like the people of that region voted for. but of course the US is going to come up with weird ways of blaming it all on Russia because that's what they do. Just like the Obama administration blames the Republicans for everything going to the shitter here.
sorry for the language. if it offended anyone I really am sorry but this is something I have tried to follow since it started and yea.
