This isn't huge news for me, since I've never played a Halo game in my life, but it's big news in the gaming world so I thought I'd make a thread. Anyone here a fan? Looking forward to the 5th game?

I'm kind of a fan. I own 4 but I have yet to beat the campaign. I'm excited enough but probably won't get it day one.

I wish I could be excited about it. I loved the Halo trilogy, but disliked Halo 4 a lot. A couple of years ago I would have bought every Halo product, but now I don't really care anymore.

What was it about Halo 4 that turned you off?

I really disliked both the plot and the characters. I think most people liked the singleplayer and hated its multiplayer, but I though the latter was much more enjoyable. I had had very high expectations of the Forerunners, and found the background story of the Forerunners and humans, which was revealed by the Librarian (I think), rather boring and unimaginative. Also, I thought the Didact's design looked really ridiculous. And the characters didn't have any depth at all, or at least that's the way I see it. The Spartans in Reach might have been rather stereotypical, each one representing another stereotype, but they had more depth than those new Spartans in Halo 4. Hell, even the marines in the first 3 Halo games were not as flat as I think Palmer and the other Spartans were.
