so big news here where I live is about two 12 year old girls who stabbed a friend 19 times to appease a fictional character. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH KIDS THESE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where the fuck were their parents. they now face up to 65 years in prison which means that if they are found guilty they will be I prison until they're 77 years old. why the fuck would anyone waste their life like that. and they did it all to please a fictional character.
This is the slenderman thing right? Man that story is crazy. No doubt people are going to pin it on the dumb internet folklore phenomenon too.
I was raised watching Indiana Jones wreck Nazis in all manner of brutal ways, but I remember my parents iterating to me time and time again to make sure it sunk in, that it was all acting.
That being said the internet has even worse media on it for kids these days, being a parent and trying to control that is probably a fair bit harder without entirely disabling it for the kids. They probably can't do that either because of how far back the kid would be socially without it or because of how much schools take advantage of technology.
I mean I really just don't know what the world is coming two.
kids just keep getting stupider, dumber, more selfish.
Full transparency, I was pretty dumb as a kid. I know some stories from older people when they were dumb kids. I've met and played competitive games against tons of dumb kids. Kids just might be dumb, with your outlier prodigies and savants here and there.
A "folklore" story started on Something Awful, it gained popularity. People made bad indie horror games based off it, it gained even more popularity. It has snowballed being bigger than most memes probably. The whole story is like a faceless reoccurring figure of a man that is tall and he sometimes wears a suit.
I don't see why it is scary, I'm part of the argument that it could represent a latent fear of businessmen in people.

Maybe there weren't any warning signs. My own son is 11 years old. I just can't imagine him or any other kid his age thinking that this was an OK thing to do. As a parent I can't even imagine any 11-12 yr old kid being capable of something like this. It is really super scary that this could even happen. It makes me shudder to think of the hell the parents of those kids are going through right now. Seriously, they must be second-guessing every parental decision they ever made. If I was the parent of the victim, I think I'd be afraid to let my kid out of the house ever again.

I remember reading about this, the wiki site had to put disclaimers on now saying that these stories are all fictional... it's so pathetic that they even need to do that, of course they are fictional. Such idiots. The girls should be in prison for a long time over this, doesn't matter how old they are.
