A lot of us here are gamers, and love gaming. I've loved video games since I was a child, and have grown up with them and always played them, but every medium has it's flaws. Write down which things you wish modern gaming would include more of. I'm sure the first one won't be of any surprise to anyone who knows me haha.
-More women. I want to see more playable female characters in video games. Not just side characters and NPC's but lead characters and playable.
-More diversity, I once saw statistics that white males are only making up something like 28% of people who play video games, but they are what the main character looks like in about 90% of games. There's something wrong with those numbers. I want to see more diversity in the characters we can play. obviously this isn't a problem in games like RPG's where you can customize your own character, same with the female thing, but for almost all other games this is a big issue.
-Less shooters. Or maybe even not less shooters, but just more of something else. I feel like the industry is so constantly swamped with very similar titles. Most of the originality in game design now seems to be coming from the indies. Which is great, but imagine if the AAA devs were able to create something new and different as well.
Also just so people don't misunderstand me, I'm in no way saying I don't enjoy games with white/male leads and shooters, because I do, I enjoy them a lot and have played heaps of them. I just wish there was more of something else as well.
What would you like to see more of?

I 100% agree with your list there, Crouton, and I would also add one other thing... I'd like to see more different art styles in games. I mean, hyper realism is nice and all, but it can be refreshing to see other kinds of visual representations in games, don't you think? Wind Waker HD and Okami and Journey were all quite emotional experiences that may not have worked as well had they been the same kind of style you see in most modern gaming.

Good writing, better themes, symbolism even. Video games that have borrowed from literary work or cinematography completely beat out other stuff for me.
If shooters and games with white male leads bothered to tell a different story I'd be satisfied with them as they are. I think that if multiple genders and ethnicity was represented in games that would force more complex story telling too.
Or just any game that isn't a veiled love story, or a story where the motivation is love, rescue somebody out of love, kill for revenge. I feel like that aspect of humanity has been beaten to death to appeal to pathos over and over.
