Do you ever preorder games or do you just wait till they are out?
I preorder maybe 1 or 2 games a year. There's very few games that I want to play the second they are released/pay full price for them. So I don't do it often. Most of the time I wait until the game has been out for a while and get it cheaper. It's only my absolute faves that I preorder, and very rarely also get the limited edition/collectors edition.

I rarely preorder anymore too. I think the last games I preordered were Dark Souls 2 and then I chipped into the Barkley 2 kickstarter which is kind of like that. I stopped following some of my old crutch franchises long ago. I have skipped the last two pokemon games all together and I'm waiting for reviews on SSB4 and to see if people's 3Dses hold up even.

It's funny that you mentioned Pokemon Raoh, because my only 2 game preorders in the last few years were pokemon Y and pokemon omega ruby.

I'm more into the trading card game than the video game competition stuff. If they had some post game feature that let you cut out all the grinding IVs/EVs together I would be in full support of the series. Right now there is still too much hidden math for me to like it competitively.
Also their game model of releasing two of the same remakes of a game is kind of making me ill. Pokemon is so popular some people think it is the only JRPG with monster mechanics and such that killed my real favorite monster collection series, Dragon Quest Monsters.
If any of those got localized again I'd preorder a dozen. At this rate I'd be surprised if western countries ever get Dragon Quest anything again.

I never play it competitively haha, I love Pokemon but I play it in a very old-fashioned way. I play the storyline, train up pokemon and beat the elite four. After that I may explore/try catch a few more but I never really got into trading, breeding, EV training, online play etc.

I've surrounded myself with competitive players for years so I have no escape lol. I don't know if I could enjoy the games for just what they are. I would feel obligated to make a team or strategy to try and prove my competence because I damn sure haven't in the TCG yet.
I was thinking of preordering or getting back into the game after the new ruby and sapphire though. As masochistic my attachment to the franchise is I still can't shake it.

I have a few friends who tried to teach me about EV training but it went right over my head. I got some shinies from them but that's about it. I just never could take to all the extra stuff. Even though the game has evolved I play the games the same way I did in my childhood.
Which of the games have you played?

All of them up to Black and White 2. So going cold turkey on the series is still a bit weird to me, hell I can name most of the the new generation even though I haven't played the game.
Also I said I was nervous about getting SSB4 for 3DS because I'm afraid of my slide stick breaking, one of my friends tried to call me out for being skeptical. People's slide sticks breaking from too much pressure is a thing right? All those pictures warrant some caution? I mean there is a picture of a broken 3DS from Animal Crossing even.

I've had my 3DS XL for several years and never had any problem with the slide stick breaking. I've mostly played Pokemon though, which is a lot less intensive than smash bros.

Well DAI look really good, much better than the second game, with more variety in locations, gameplay, characters. While it's not really open-world the locations are really large of size that you can visit, one being as big as Ferelden itself in the first game. Races are an option again, all the ones from Origins plus the Qunari. The story seems to be more interesting with more fantasy elements. Also some characters are returning from previous games, such as Morrigan, Leliana, Flemeth, Hawke and Alistair. I'm not sure about the last three, but the first two seem to have big roles. Assassin's Creed Rogue doesn't get me excited. It reminds me too much of Black Flag. You can play as a Templar which seems to be the only thing that is interesting. Next to that the gameplay is almost exactly the same as in Black Flag, but as a hardcore AC fan I'm getting it anyway. Assassin's Creed Unity is a lot more interesting with Paris in its revolution. The gameplay has been really altered, where you have a lot more freedom in free-running. Next to that you can customize your character more, whether in combat, stealth or other options. Combat has been altered too, seems to be more complicated than any other AC game. Fans did complain that the combat often was too easy. Next to that there's now co-op in the singleplayer story. It works in a pretty unique way, so it does look interesting. Though I don't know if I'll participate. I was never a fan of multiplayer. Paris looks really fantastic in this game. They said it took them a full year to re-create Notre Dame, as you can see almost every detail on it and visit inside. That's something what's new. In previous games you could glide through windows, but in this game you can actually visit a lot more buildings, which makes it feel more open-world. This is certainly an AC game that got me really excited. Also there is interesting DLC available one which let's you play as a female assassin in China. Probably the closest you will get to feudal Japan.
