It also made me laugh heaps haha. I'm glad you still treat your cats right, even with your distaste for them.

It's the "I even pet them still because it's not really their fault" part that got me most.

We have an obese cat and can't really stop her from eating as much as she does. She doesn't usually throw up afterward, but this might be a good thing for her. We'd have to get 2 because they'd fight over it lol. What are some of your favourite cat toys? Even though I kind of hate our cats, I understand that they're animals and still need stimulation and just because I hate them doesn't mean I won't treat them right (I even pet them still because it's not really their fault). We really need cat toys. lol Liv! hmm... cats are very vertically-oriented: they like to climb and sit on high places, especially if they can look out a window or something by doing it. There's some great suggestions for improving their indoor environment here: indoorpet.osu.edu/cats/ (sorry if I've posted that link before...I may have). As for toys it's been my experience that the cats I've had have liked: -laser pointers -those little plastic mice that are covered in fake fur -fish-tanks or beta fish (also known as cat TV ) -the "cat dancer": a flexible wire with three little cardboard tubes stuck on the end. When they grab it and then release it, it jumps up and down due to the innate springiness of the wire. catdancer.com/category/cat-dancer-products/-fat ribbons that jump away when somebody pulls them -anything they're not supposed to have or that might break *sigh* -my kids, 'cause they're fun to chase and terrorize and they double up as good pals to cuddle with at night. I think the trick with cat toys is to rotate them. Put the ones that are out away every two days and bring new ones out. Cats get bored with them quickly if you don't.

In addition to those little plastic mice covered in fur some of my parents' cats like to play with a stuffed mouse that's filled with catnip. Mostly because of the catnip, though. And "anything they're not supposed to have" is probably their favourite kind of toy. My cat loves to hunt and fight socks, and he's even learned to pull them out of the laundry basket. Sometimes he carries them around and places them in front of my brother's door, as a kind of toll so he'll be let in the room. Right now: solely out of this. I imagine it also works well for those cats who gorge on food and then vomit afterward. This thing forces them to slow down. One of my parents' cats does that a lot. This ball sounds like a really great idea. (I've found my Mother's Day present! ) They get both wet and dry food, and always out of bowls, and although none of their cats are obese they could certainly use the challenge!

I do like cats though I'm supposed to be allergic. They can be pretty vengeful if you're touching the wrong part at the wrong time, which can change in five seconds. I've always been faster than their swipy paws.
My greyhound however did give me the blazing green eyes right before she tried to bite me once though.

The trick is teaching them to use it. It took my cat about 24 hours to figure it out. I didn't put any food in her dish...just in the ball. Then I rolled it for her and tucked some kibbles underneath it so she had to move it to get at them. Then I kept pushing the ball with her paw to show her that it would release kibbles when it rolled. Now she's a pro. I must say it's a little funny to see her when the kibbles run out though. I have to put the ball away at that point....lol

lol that's hilarious. My cats aren't very smart (one of them is especially... un-gifted LOL, she's so cute though), so I can't wait to watch them try to figure it out

My cat is completely insane though. She's young (<2 yrs old) and she's very active. She can launch herself from a sitting position to 2/3 of the way to the ceiling. You should see her race across my backyard... she runs like the wind and just keeps right on going up the trees....lol.

I don't hate cats, but as far as cute factor goes, I don't think I've ever seen a cat that's cuter than a dog.

I disagree. Next time I see a cat being adorable and cute; I will send you both the vid/pic!
