unfortunately online interactions can't be governed. I don't know what the group is called elsewhere but in the US the ESRB is the rating group and on all the games released here it says, 'online interactions not rated by the ESRB'. though I'm sure the Dev's of the game would freak out hearing about this sort of stuff there's not much they could do cause it's only a portion of gamers who are like this.

It's not policed nearly well enough. Every now and then the people on Xbox Live or the PS Network will ban a user for being too abusive, but most of the time they do nothing, because as most people will tell you "Trash talk is a part of online gaming".

That is such a cop out, don't you think? The people who say this are usually the ones doing this so-called "trash talking". No, it's not trash talking. It's abuse by another name.

Yeah, there's also levels of trash talking. Sometimes I get frustrated at a game and yell out something. But when people start threatening other real people with rape and violence then it crosses a line I think.

How hard would it be to implement a reporting system where users could report people who were threatening them?

well Xbox live has a reporting system but it probably doesn't do a whole lot so I just give them bad rep and they get added to me avoid list.

Lol, does anyone but 12 year old kids even play COD these days? It seems like it's the lowest common denominator when it comes to the world of online gaming. I can hardly take people seriously when they tell me they play it. It seems to be about being abusive rather than anything else. I play it with my partner sometimes to deviate from the norm of MMO gaming together, because it's fun for us to play a FPS every once in a while. Throws a bit of a competitive flare into our usual gaming relationship of sticking together the entire time. I've never ever played online though and I have no desire ever to, I'm so bad at it lolol

Yeah I imagine it would be fun playing with friends you know, just not playing online with people who are all immature jerks haha. I've actually never played any COD games, just heard horror stories from friends who play it. I might play one day, just to see what all the fuss is about.

honestly if you want to play a COD game go with the very first one. there is no online but it was a great game in its time. if you want to go online play either 4 which again was amazing in its time or I heard World at War was good. the only issue with these is that if the servers are still up the online games are hacked like crazy. I just prefer Battlefield so much more and the occasional match on Counter Strike.
