When you are home alone for the day, just bumming around the house, do you prefer it to be quiet or are you more the type of person who always has music playing?
I'm a bit of both, but lead more towards quiet. I've been finding that I play music less and less lately while I'm just hanging about at home, and enjoy the quiet heaps. The main time I listen to music now is through my headphones when I am walking or travelling.

depends on how I feel at the time. I go through times in the year where I have music going while reading but if I'm playing video games and I have my headphones on I usually won't have music going. also if I'm not able to sleep I'll put something on and hope it lulls me to sleep. usually like you I just listen to music when I'm walking to work or going somewhere else but from time to time I listen at home, especially when I get a new CD.

Usually one of the only times I play music out loud at home is when I'm cleaning. I love to clean and listen to music. And sometimes when drawing. Other than that I really like peace and quiet.

I enjoy music when I'm writing as well. for some reason it just makes the words come right out. especially folk metal like Battlelor or Ensiferum. writing fantasy this music helps with the whole feel of what I'm writing.
edit: and while cleaning. music makes it go by faster.

I've never been able to write and listen to music. No matter what type of writing it is. I end up accidentally typing out the lyrics haha.

I'm actually amazed I don't do that. especially a song I know every word to the moment I hear the first note of music. after a while though it all becomes background noise and I don't even know what song I'm listening to unless I stop and actually listen. also why it makes cleaning go faster cause it doesn't feel like it was all that long but I might've gone through 20 or so songs by the time I'm done and more often then not that's about an hour and a half.

Music really does make cleaning go faster. And dance cleaning is always more fun that regular cleaning

I pretty much only listen to music when I've purchased a new album, am surfing on the net, or when I'm colouring or drawing. And even then there are times when I prefer things to be quiet. It very much does depend on mood, I agree.

I also only listen to loud music when I clean. When I clean and when I do sports, which is a rare thing, though. Only sometimes I come home and really feel like playing loud music for whatever reason, but the thought of my neighbours always holds me back.

I don't listen to music much at home. The only time I really did was when my iguana was alive because he loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers and I used their music to calm him down when he was having a bad day. Occasionally I'll still put on some Okkervil River when I'm cleaning, but typically I just sit in silence (which drives my boyfriend crazy lol).

I almost always have music going, unless I'm writing. I can't write to music because I find that what I write inevitably reflects the mood of the music I happen to be listening too...lol. Other than that I do almost everything to music: cleaning, cooking, drawing and yay for busting a move while doing these things!!! "Dance laundry" is my personal favourite. What I listen to is highly dependent upon my mood. Since I listen to just about every kind of music going, that isn't a problem though. I can usually find something that suits me. The biggest problem we have at our house is finding something that everyone doesn't mind listening to when we're all home together....lol.

Yeah some of my Uni friends hate sitting in silence, but I find silence so relaxing. That's adorably btw, that your iguana liked Chilli Peppers.
