Has anyone here been to a midnight launch of a new game? My local game store is pretty big and they often do these types of events. I've been to two now, and just heard that they are planning on doing one for the new Pokemon games, Omega Ruby etc. So hopefully I can make it to that one too. I find these events really fun.

I really should try that some time. They do sound like a lot of fun, and I'm pretty sure they'll have one for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire here too. It would certainly be a different experience for me.

Yeah I recommend it. Lots of fun. The last Pokemon one I went to was great, so I'm excited for this one. I doubt it will be as big as X and Y though.

I've been to one in 2009, when Assassin's Creed II came out. I worked at GameStop at that time and my co-workers had to work that night. I went there to get on their nerves and get a couple of ACII t-shirts without having pre-ordered the game. And luckily, a friend of a friend who worked for EA gave me a promo copy of the game.
I wasn't even there because of the game, and I guess even if I'd be really hyped about a release I wouldn't want to spend my nights waiting for it.

Wow. You people are hella cool! Firiath used to work at a GameStop? So cool! TAZ used to manage a games store? Very cool! All I've ever done is manage to not walk into walls while scratching my bum at the same time. Why are you people even associating with me? (I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!) Anyway, better get myself back on topic... So, Crouton and you guys, what exactly happens at one of these midnight launches? Could you give a little break down of what happens in such an evening?

Well, we usually lineup/wait for the countdown to midnight then all get our game. After that (For a Pokemon one) there are things like cosplay competitions with prizes, gaming tournaments etc. Giveaways and things like that. Sometimes people dress up and play music outside the line while we wait. It's pretty cool.

I've been to a few of them. the last one I went to was for Halo 4 and unfortunately the gamestop I go to boched it. but yea when it works out they can be a lot of fun. I remember going to the BF3 midnight launch and just chiilin listening to music out of my buddies car. at the store I go to they do a raffle to win a bunch of random stuff that didn't sell.
