so I figured I'd start up an Elder Scrolls thread to get the conversation out of the 'every time you visit, you have to post' thread. this is a thread for it all, from Arena to Daggerfall to Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim to ESO and everything in between including mods for all the games and character pics and anything else ESO.

I played about 2 hours of Oblivion, and about 7 or so hours of Skyrim. But I'm afraid to say that's it for me with the Elder Scrolls games so far. I've always found it hard to really get into huge open-world games, as I usually prefer games with linear stories. I might try and play Skyrim again some day. I have a pretty good computer and it looked great in ultra high settings.

ah I love getting lost in the game, which actually literally happened the first time I played an Elder Scrolls game. I love the fact that you can do just about anything you want in the game. together between all my Elder Scrolls gaming I probably put in about 1000 hours if not more.

It's the getting lost part that well... loses me. I got confused in Skyrim and didn't know what I was supposed to be doing or where I was supposed to be. I wandered around aimlessly for a really long time, and while the scenery was beautiful I felt like I wasn't really doing anything. When I did find quests I couldn't figure out how to do them. I'm a big RPG noob haha. I'm usually more into action adventure type games which could explain it. I've always planned on trying Skyrim again one day though.

to each there own I always say. I like all types of games though so yea. I was the same way when I first played Oblivion. I was at my friends house and I kept asking him what I had to do because prior to that I had only ever played Baldurs Gate and the like where you kinda always new what you were supposed to be doing.

The funny thing is, I've played heaps of MMORPG's before, and I liked them. I played WoW, Ultima Online, Ragnarok Online, Runescape etc in my youth, and liked them all. So I thought I would be more into Skyrim.

I will be joining mmo's with ESO when it's released on console next month but other then that and a couple of days playing Runescape I haven't played much in the way of mmo's. I have always wanted to though.

I played through Oblivion twice, back in the days when it was still the best Xbox 360 rpg around. Then I got Skyrim, and again I finished the game twice with different characters, although I still haven't completed the Dragonborn DLC. I started playing Morrowind last year, but I couldn't bear to play it longer than half an hour. I'd love to give ESO a try, but I don't really have the time to play MMORPGs and I'm not willing to pay extra for games.

I couldn't really play Oblivion through, though in a way from what I've heard it's actually a better game than Skyrim. But yeah, I loved Skyrim and played it through several times. I'm also looking a lot at the mods to improve and extend the gameplay.

the thing about Skyrim is they dumbed it down a bit. then again from what I heard Oblivion was also dumbed down. the fact that weapons and armor didn't degrade in Skyrim was a bit upsetting cause it took away your need to keep an eye on your equipment.
granted I still enjoyed skyrim a lot.

That's what they did with certain mods. They made the bartering more complicated, challenging. I think there is a mod for making your armour degrade. Like I said lots of mods improve the gameplay.
