remember those cans would be used for every meal unless you had a gas stove.

no, that's about a week's supply. there are 2 large adults and 1 child here You're not gonna eat full meals every day! You gotta ration the food carefully.

Hmmm... For 1-2 lbs weight loss/week my hubby (he's a large specimen at 6 feet 5 inches and is pretty active admittedly) would need to eat about 2500 calories/day, a woman my size (5 feet) about 1200 calories a day and a child would need a similar amount since they're growing and pretty active I'm guessing. Suddenly, that doesn't seem like a lot of food in storage, does it? It would be interesting to calculate the calories in all the stuff we have stored and add them up....

yes, once went on a work trip down to Griffith NSW to do some farm work, the whole time we were there it rained, and with farm work you can't harvest in the rain so we didn't get work, and so didn't get paid... 2 of us, each around 100kg, were forced to share 1 can for a meal for a period of about 3 weeks. my energy levels were depleted to a level that 30 min of activity forced me to sleep. during the 3 weeks we were there i lost around 20kg.

Good Lord. How the hell did you manage to get yourself through that ordeal then? I would have cried myself into a little puddle of nothing!

Gah! I'm so good at conserving calories that I doubt that would bother me a bit. I'd be lucky to lose 5 lbs. I'm definitely the type you want to feed through a zombie apocalypse. I don't need to eat much...lol.

We don't have canned spaghetti with sauce here,if we had I would have bought some cans! :/ But we have very nice vine leaves stuffed with rice(dolmades). They saved me a lot of times when I was student in another city and I was hungry at night
