I advanced a bit last night.
Spoilers:
I opened the three compartments, and found the key to the basement etc. I got the two combination things for the locker and opened it and now am in the kitchen area looking for the code for the safe in the basement.

Spoilers: I finished the game and it's nothing but a lesbian teen story. Lol, I mean I have more criticisms for the game than anybody I know and it is more than JUST that. I'm going to wait until everybody in the thread finishes though before bothering with that if at all though.

I've played 98 minutes and am still stuck. One of my friends finished it in 60 minutes.

I don't know. I've done heaps of things. Found the hidden doors, the hidden rooms, the compartment in the walls with the paper behind them etc. Now I'm just sort of walking aimlessly around the house. I have no idea what I should do or where I should be. I'm pretty sure I've been in every room 12 times now. I know I'm missing something, but I have no idea what.
EDIT: Nevermind I just finished it!

It wasn't worth its money if you ask me.

I know the feeling of the price being steep for how short it was. For me it just felt like a player subverting Romeo & Juliet, the whole star crossed lovers deal. I liked the story telling method but I kind of wished there was a bit less voice over and more natural story lying around.
I don't think the game is earthshaking or on my favorites, but I think it has some merit for trying something different at least. Lots of people use Gone Home as ammunition to gun down the validity of other video games that have violence but I think that is kind of crude. I've seen some compelling storytelling in games with more violence not that the violence carries the game though.
I think over-saturation of a genre did kind of crank up the expectation and hype around Gone Home more than it really deserved, but at the same time it is the kind of game that seems like an important benchmark to see where you can take the medium.

How much was it for you guys? It was about $20 Aus dollars here. A bit more than I'd like to pay for such a short game but not too bad.
I enjoyed it overall. I thought the atmosphere within the house was great and really creepy, they captured the type of horror game feel without it ever actually being a horror game. I thought the storytelling was nice and it was a cute story.

I thought the atmosphere within the house was great and really creepy, they captured the type of horror game feel without it ever actually being a horror game. I thought the storytelling was nice and it was a cute story. Same price USD, that seems kind of weird. Isn't the Australian dollar worth more? I enjoyed it too, I feel like the subversion part got kind of played out though and then the time period references started to feel heavy handed. The thoroughness of those details is well done though. The story left me feeling kind of sour, painting having to abandon your family as the happy ending over suicide seemed a bit much. I might have liked it more if they have the mother and father more redemptive features instead of just being unwavering tyrants with irrelevant side stories. The notion of two kids running away from their families to the west sounds like a horror story in itself. Aside from the story stuff I liked the gameplay quite a bit but I think the puzzles could have been upped a bit. I get Foin's complaints it does feel a little hollow sometimes. The design certainly has some of the Bioshock the designers worked on before in it though. I'm glad we can all agree it is a game though, those dissidents are the worst.
